2007 Parhelion Autumn Series

The Parhelion autumn yacht racing series is run by the Portsmouth Sailing Club, with races in the Eastern Solent, off Portsmouth and in Hayling bay.

One More Knot's skipper reports each race in the series, blow by blow. With luck, some of the other crews and skippers will contribute too ... just to give a balanced view!

Autumn 2007 Races 1 & 2

The opener for the series was held in a light and failing wind. This eventually led to no boats being able to finish in club class in the race 2. Follow the link for the full Race 1 and 2 reports.

A light wind day, with some very tight margins in the results. One More Knot produced some good results despite numerous arguments with the spinnaker strings. Read more in the full race 3 and 4 report

Autumn 2007 Races 6 & 7

A day for the ladies! Two races with ladies at the helm for most of the fleet.  With slightly more wind than the earlier races, the courses set are a welcome departure from the more usual upwind downwind affairs.  Race 6 was very long, with everyone taking well over 2 hours to get around.  Race 7 was shorter with some interesting wind angles that caught the fleet out. Read more in the  race 6 & 7 report. After this weeks racing, Concerto's consistency  allowing her to run away with the series.  The real pressure on her will be can she score a perfect score. For the rest, One More Knot, Rhapsody and Just In Time have a battle on their hands. With only 2 points difference between 3 boats, the rest of the series will be hot amongst these 3.

Autumn 2007 Races 9 & 10

The series was poised for a final days showdown.  Coming into this days racing, Concerto had already claimed 1st place.  But behind, Rhapsody was lying in second with 19 points followed closely by Just In Time and One More knot on 20 points.  There was everything to play for.  Read the race race 9 & 10 report to find out what happened.
